There I go again, talking nonsense

Like when my time comes how am I supposed to know?

Used to always make December with my folks

Family's everywhere, 'till it's not there

And I get choked up by the fear, it's such a joke

Family's everywhere, drinking cheap beer

The twins are having kids, hearts are broken

My dad lost his oldest friend a year ago

And I can't handle it, the fear of losing

All the people in my life that I hold close

And the few I love so much, please don't let let go

And the pain it shows

Emptiness is everywhere, the strong lose hope

When the door stays closed

And hearts grow cold

Love is so much losing, how does anybody cope?

And I'm afraid of change, but only some days

Had a dream that I moved on, then I awoke

Some folks stay afraid, change is unsafe

If you don't take the chance, how are you gonna know?

And that's how it goes

Everyone starts crying when the lid gets closed

When it goes down slow

It's a long drive home

No one feels like talking, everybody leaves alone

And the panic grows

Ain't it such a bummer when the end is close

When the fear takes hold

Like a silent scream

Emptiness is everywhere, it's all around me

In twenty-something years, if I stay here

We're too caught up to care, life is unfair
